It's Friday evening ... we're busy cleaning the mission compound trying to erase any trace of our being here. We have an amazing crew of young people who are doing the dirty work to help us get ready to depart early tomorrow morning. We have had an amazing week with alot of challenges and opportunities ... and many blessings. Please ask the team members you know to tell you about some of the ways God has shown them his power and love through our partnership with Pastor Jose and his church in San Vicente. Please pray as we head to the border crossing back into the USA tomorrow morning.

Tuesday evening and Wednesday am in San Vicente

Tuesday started cloudy and cool and turned into sunny and warm. About 60 kids came to our first day of VBS and heard and saw a lesson on the fall and sin with a sneak peek at the hope we have in Christ. Tuesday evening we helped host a BBQ at the church with the church family and a small team for California. Our team has connected well with the kids and their families and we're looking forward to 3 more days of VBS.

Wednesday is sunny, windy and warm and we're back to work. Our work projects are diverse in nature ... demolition, construction, painting, community enhancement (filling potholes and collecting garbage), plumbing etc. etc. Only a couple of black widow spiders have fallen to weapons. (we're ready for them). Mid week can be a stressful time for the team ... prayers are so important ... thankyou for your prayers.

Monday in San Vicente

Monday came early, 6:30 to be exact ... get up, do devotions, have breakfast and be ready to go to work at 8:30. Our work today involved some projects in support of the mission here, preapring the kitchen to be painted, fixing up the BBQ for another season, cleaning out the van we had borrowed for the trip to the beach yesterday, breaking up an old cement pad and hauling it to the dump, painting our missionary's exposed rafters and getting a start on the building project at the church. We spotted our first tarantula and a small black spider that some thought to be husbandless (a widow). In the afternoon we fanned out through the community going house to house with invitations for children to come to our first day of VBS tomorrow. Lots of eye-opening experiences in this, our first workday of the week. The team is well except for a few sniffles and some slight sunburns and dehydration ... gotta drink more water. It is a blessing to watch God at work in our team mates lives.

We're heading to San Vicente on our way to the rest of life! Our team from Caronport and Moose Jaw area plans to depart on April 08 and return April 20, 2009. We look forward to the opportunities that God has in store for us as we travel, serve and allow God to transform our perspective on him and on this world he has created. Jesus invites us to come to him, to take up his burden and to learn from him as we prepare for this trip and for the rest of life that is to come.
